The Santa Rosa City Council has authorized a temporary waiver of parking fees for the duration of the Sonoma County Health Order which requires residents to Shelter-in-Place Order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This means, the City will temporarily suspend fee collection for hourly and permit parking (at the five City-owned parking garages and lots) and all parking meters.
The waiver of parking fees aims to provide relief for businesses and community members who are engaged in essential activities ONLY. When parking downtown, residents should be mindful to get in-and-out quickly and only visit downtown for essential purposes, as defined in the Sonoma County Health Order.
City Council authorized the temporary waiver on April 14, 2020 to ease the burden the Health Order places on the community and downtown businesses who are providing essential services, such as restaurants offering food for pick-up and delivery. Fees for hourly parking are waived effective April 15, 2020. The waiver of fees for parking garage and parking lot permits is retroactive to April 1, 2020.
