Downtown Santa Rosa Streetscape
The Downtown Santa Rosa Streetscape project to enhance pedestrian access and safety near downtown is currently under construction at two locations. The first location, Third Street between Morgan and B Street is where Third Street passes under Santa Rosa Plaza. Work at this location involves pedestrian and vehicular improvements including lighting, street trees, bike lanes and delineation to channelize pedestrians to the north side of Third Street. The sidewalk along the north side of Third Street will have decorative bollards with downward shining lights to brighten the pedestrian experience.
The vehicular component at this location will improve the lighting in the Third Street underpass. The existing lighting is being upgraded to include forty-one Soffit LED lights to improve overall visibility through the underpass. The Soffit lights will be installed with an internal setting which will counter the sharp contrast of light change as drivers enter and exit the underpass. The Soffit lights will be on full setting during the day and dimmed down at night. Crews are projected to complete the installation of the Soffit lights and the new illuminated bollards by early June.
At the second location, the intersection of Santa Rosa Avenue and Mill Street/Sebastopol Avenue, anew traffic signal will be installed along with pedestrian ramps, and storm drain. Installation of the new traffic signal is consistent with the Santa Rosa Avenue Corridor Plan.
