Good news for lovers of recreation and parks! Santa Rosa residents may now enjoy basketball, bocce ball, tennis and pickleball, and non-motorized boating either solo or with other household members at some City parks close to their homes. Following the amended Parks Closure Order issued by the Sonoma County Public Health Officer effective May 13, the City of Santa Rosa is opening some parking lots and park amenities at some of the City’s 75 parks effective today.

What’s Now Open:

  • basketball courts
  • bocce ball courts
  • teniss and pickleball courts
  • non-motorized boating

For details about parking lot access and amenities that are currently available at specific City parks, check the Park Status List and the FAQ List.

Under the amended Parks Order, you may walk, bike or drive from your home to those City parks that are open. Additionally, the use of sports courts and limited recreation amenities at some City parks is now allowed and parking lots and portable restrooms are open at parks that have open amenities.

What Remains Closed:

  • playgrounds
  • sports fields
  • swimming pools
  • picnic areas
  • dog parks
  • skate parks
  • barbecue areas
  • drinking fountains
  • volleyball
  • handball and horseshoe courts
  • the RC and bicycle pump tracks
  • other gathering or high-touch areas

When visiting our City parks, remember that social distancing is required. Please stay at least 6 feet from other parks users who are not members of your household and carry a face covering and wear the covering when you cannot maintain that distance. Be especially careful in parking lots, which can become crowded.

Please enjoy the fresh air and beauty of a City park near your home and stay well!
