[ARCHIVED] Health Order Issued 6/5 Expands Access to Recreation & Parks

On Friday, June 5, the Sonoma County Health Officer issued a new Health Order that eases some public health restrictions on outdoor recreational activities. Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks is excited to open recreational opportunities for our community! We are working quickly to implement the safety protocols required under the Health Order to open, as well as complete deferred maintenance at City parks and facilities and ensure appropriate staffing.

Dog Parks: Opening Now
Parks crews are working to complete any maintenance deferred at the City’s dog parks during the COVID-19 emergency. It may take one to two weeks to complete this work at all of the City’s dog parks and each park will open as soon as the work is complete at that park. We appreciate your continued patience.

Pools for Lap Swimming & Water Fitness: Opening June 15
The City of Santa Rosa looks forward to reopening its City pools at Finley Aquatic Center and Ridgway Swim Center on June 15th! The 6/5 Health Order allows City pools to open for pre-registered lap swimming, fitness classes and day camps only. No open-access swimming is allowed.

Sports Fields for Sports Training: Apply June 15
In accordance with the new Health Order, opportunities for sports training on City sports fields or turf areas will be provided to groups of up to 10 people from different households with a Sports Field permit only. Staff are working to create and implement this new permit process and applications will be accepted beginning June 15 at [email protected].

Boat Rentals at Lake Ralphine at Howarth Park: Opening June 20
The Boathouse at Lake Ralphine at Howarth Park will be open to the public for weekend boat rentals, reservations only, beginning June 20th. The City’s modified day camp programs will be utilizing the rental boats Monday thru Friday.

Facilities & Activities to Remain Closed

  • Recreation swimming, swim lessons, pool rentals and birthday parties;
  • Tournaments, competitions, sport events and live audiences;
  • Groups areas, picnic sites, playgrounds, volleyball, handball, skate parks, RC track, horseshoe courts, bicycle pump track, amphitheaters, amusements, concessions, BBQs and drinking fountains.
